Lesson Description
The rule requires dealerships to take “reasonable measures” to ensure the destruction of the sensitive information contained in a consumer report once it’s no longer needed or required to be retained. “Consumer information” means any record about an individual that is derived from a credit report. Obviously, this means the credit report itself, as well as any embodiment of that information. In this lesson, you will learn what constitutes “consumer information” and how to properly dispose of it in accordance with the rule.
